What is Outside the Aux?
I’ve always believed that sound is in fact our first language. It is that belief that sparked my fascination with the universal connection that we all have to music. As an adolescent, my palate for music was shaped largely by my parents’ tastes, especially my Father’s. His collection of music was plentiful but more importantly it was versatile. That gave me the agency to explore music outside of what the majority of my peers listened to and more importantly, the music that was marketed to us. As a lifelong lover of music, I’ve become more aware of its evolution, specifically the way it is fed to us. Naturally, the creation and dominance of streaming services has made music much more accessible. However, I’ve realized that many users are comfortable streaming only their favorite artists or music heard on mainstream radio/television. There are many that have no desire to explore music outside of what they know and there are some that have no idea where to start. Outside the Aux was created to help change that narrative. I want people to explore the world of music in it’s entirety as doing so elevated my love for it to heights I never knew were possible. Most importantly, this helps the artist! There are tons and tons of talented artists making music that is just as good, most times better than what is pushed in mainstream radio and television. Here you’ll discover some of those artists, find new resources to explore music, and you’ll also see my personal commentary on artists/releases/events etc.
If you’re reading this, thank you for taking the time to see what’s new on Outside the Aux!
